WIESA October Meeting – Wisconsin ACT 270

Tom Engels – Assistant Deputy Secretary, WI Dept. of Safety and Professional Services will be speaking
on Act 270.
Act 270 impacts any business operating in the State of Wisconsin that must conform to multiple codes and regulations. The impact this has on our industry is that rather than having one set of rules, we have to abide by many.
Act 270 provides a council to regulate those rules and provides guidelines and a stipulation that any
proposed requirements in communities that supersedesteh state regulations must be submitted,
approved and published by the state. In short, that portion of the act attempts to standardize requirements across the state.
In addition, they will be discussing the new Uniform Commercial Building Code and the most frequent
“pet peeves” found by inspectors.
